Hostel Project Seventy
percent population of India lives in countryside. Primary education is widely disseminated even in remote rural areas but many students have difficulty in pursuing their studies beyond the fifth standard. Among the backward classes drop out rate is very high as wages earning competes with education for the child’s time. Young girls are taken from their studies to look after younger children or to go out to work. Parents are not aware of the importance of education. They could not afford the expenditure of education. After primary education they can not continue it due to long distances schools and lack of facilities. To enable such children to continue at school Trailokya Bauddha Mahasangha Sahayaka Gana constructed first hostel in 1984 at Lohgaon, Pune, Maharashtra, which now accommodates 78 students. Now the trust is running 7 hostels for boys and girls. Six boys hostel and one girls hostel in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Gujrat & Andhra Pradesh. The students attend the local school. The hostels was granted and received grant in aid from Social welfare department Maharashtra Govt. These
hostels are catering services and educational facilities to 495 students.
Hostel project caters mainly to rural poor children.
